The founding father of Turkish cryptocurrency trade Thodex was arrested in Albania Tuesday in line with a press release from Turkish authorities.

Faruk Fatih Ozer, the founding father of Thodex, was apprehended in Vlora, Albania. The press launch states that extradition proceedings “have been initiated” by Interpol. Turkey had put Ozer on Interpol’s “Crimson Discover” which, in line with Interpol, is a request to regulation enforcement worldwide “to find and provisionally arrest an individual pending extradition, give up, or comparable authorized motion”.

In accordance with Interpol, Ozer is needed by Turkish authorities for 2 prices stemming from his work with Thodex: “Establishing Organizations for the Objective of Committing Crimes” and “Aggravated Fraud.” Thodex was Turkey’s first world cryptocurrency trade. In April 2021, customers of the trade complained that their proceeds weren’t transferring to their accounts. After these complaints, Thodex introduced it had closed operations for 3-5 days for “upkeep” towards cyber assaults. Within the following days, it was found that Ozer had fled Turkey, taking with him roughly $2 billion of traders’ cash.

Earlier reports claimed Turkish authorities search over 40,000 years for events concerned within the “rug pull” by the cryptocurrency trade and its founder.
