Crews with the Orange County Hearth Authority responded to a blaze in a two-story, multi-family residential constructing Sunday morning in Irvine.
The fireplace, in keeping with officers, was within the 300 block of Deerfield Avenue. Residents within the constructing smelled smoke at round 4 a.m. and known as 911.
Video from the incident confirmed heavy flames taking pictures out of the roof the construction.
“A Mayday was declared in the course of the incident when a (firefighter) was knocked to the ground by heavy, moist ceiling particles w/potential want for quick assist. The (firefighter) was capable of rise up & exit,” OCFA tweeted.
All residents within the constructing have been capable of safely escape the fireplace, officers stated.
Firefighters knocked down the fireplace in just below 90 minutes. The reason for the blaze is underneath investigation.
