ICSB honours 37 firms for better corporate governance

The Institute of Chartered Secretaries of Bangladesh (ICSB) has awarded 37 firms for his or her excellent company governance practices in addition to transparency and accountability in total administration.

The ninth ICSB Nationwide Award for Company Governance Excellence-2021 was held on the Pan Pacific Sonargaon resort in Dhaka yesterday.

Salman Fazlur Rahman, the prime minister’s adviser on personal business and funding, handed over trophies and certificates below 12 classes to the successful firms.

Japanese Financial institution Restricted gained the gold award within the basic banking sector whereas Mercantile Financial institution secured silver and Brac Financial institution bronze. In the meantime, Shahjalal Islami Financial institution Restricted obtained the gold award within the Islamic banking class.

DBH Finance PLC scooped the highest award within the non-bank monetary establishments class whereas IDLC Finance bagged silver and Bangladesh Finance Restricted obtained the bronze.

Within the basic insurance coverage class, the gold medal went to Inexperienced Delta Insurance coverage Firm whereas it was Pragati Life Insurance coverage Firm Restricted within the life insurance coverage class.

Of the opposite gold winners, Beximco Prescription drugs took the highest prize within the prescribed drugs and chemical class whereas Paramount Textile PLC gained it within the textile and garment firm class.

Unilever Client Care gained gold within the meals and allied firm class and Walton Hello-Tech Industries obtained it within the engineering class.

Within the manufacturing class, RAK Ceramics (Bangladesh) and Marico Bangladesh claimed high spot whereas United Energy Technology and Distribution Firm beat out the competitors within the gasoline and energy firm class.

Lastly, Japanese Housing Restricted gained the best honour within the service firm class.

Talking because the chief visitor, Rahman stated the federal government has created conducive surroundings for the personal sector.

“As the federal government is empowering the personal sector, they need to play a accountable function within the nation’s economic system,” he added.

Planning Minister MA Mannan stated virtually 90 per cent of the nation’s economic system is managed by the personal sector.

“So, the federal government ought to encourage the personal sector extra,” he added.

Talking as particular visitor, Tapan Kanti Ghosh, senior secretary of the commerce ministry, stated personal firms are the lifeblood of the economic system.

ICSB president Mohammad Asad Ullah stated good governance within the company sector is the necessity of the hour.
