Noam Chomsky, a world-renowned linguist, mental and political activist, spoke on the College of Arizona on Feb. 8, 2012. His lecture, “Schooling: For Whom and For What?” featured a chat on the state of upper training, adopted by a question-and-answer session.
Chomsky, an Institute Professor and a Professor Emeritus of Linguistics on the Massachusetts Institute of Expertise the place he labored for greater than 50 years, has been involved with a variety of education-related points in recent times. Amongst them: How can we characterize the modern state of the American training system? What occurs to the standard of training when public universities develop into extra privatized? Are public universities in peril of being transformed into amenities that produce graduates-as-commodities for the job market? What’s the function of activism in training? With unprecedented tuition will increase and price range struggles occurring throughout American campuses, these are questions which are extra related than ever.
