It’s been a busy stretch for Gov. Charlie Baker.
Within the span of only a few days, he provided jobs again to dozens of state staff who beforehand misplaced their jobs over vaccine mandates; aggressively defended his administration’s response to the humanitarian disaster at Mass. and Cass after Boston Mayor Michelle Wu questioned the state’s dedication; and talked up the reelection campaign of Bristol County Sheriff Thomas Hodgson, who Baker is backing regardless of what looks as if a profound political disconnect. Amongst different issues.
On this episode of Speaking Politics, Adam Reilly is joined by Politico’s Lisa Kashinsky and Axios’ Mike Deehan to debate Baker’s muscular method to his lame-duck months and what it’d inform us about Baker’s political future. (Spoiler: Deehan says to not anticipate Baker’s title to seem on the poll any time quickly.)
After that, Evan Horowitz of Tufts College’s Middle for the Research of State Coverage Evaluation provides a nonpartisan take a look at Poll Questions 3 and 4, which may shake up the state’s alcohol business and decide whether or not a regulation that can give unauthorized immigrants entry to Massachusetts driver’s licenses will stay on the books. (Catch up on last week’s breakdown of Ballot Questions 1 and 2.)
